Evan Seth Rashkoff

LAKEVILLE — Evan Seth Rashkoff, MD, died suddenly at Sharon Hospital on Oct. 24, 2017. He was born in New York City on Feb. 5, 1951, to Gladys (Stier) Rashkoff of Eastchester, N.Y., and the late Dr. Ira Rashkoff. He was a member of the Eastchester Class of 1969, and received degrees from Brandeis University and SUNY Downstate College of Medicine.

He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Fla. In 1983 he returned to New York to begin a fellowship at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Medical Center.

It was then that he met his future wife of 33 years, Clare Gramaglia, through a mutual friend. 

He joined the medical staff of Sharon Hospital in October 1987.

When not caring for patients Evan could be found creating pottery, hiking or bicycling on the Housatonic Valley Rail Trail.

Evan worked as a volunteer orthopedic surgeon for Project Medi-Share and made several volunteer trips to Port au Prince, Haiti. 

He is survived by his mother; his wife; his four beloved children, Daniel, Noah, Rebecca and Adam and his wife, Maike Baltner.; his sister and her husband, Drs. Sheri and Seth Eisengart of Moreland Hills, Ohio; his nephew and nieces, Dr. Jonathan Eisengart, Dr. Julie Eisengart and Dr. Laurie Eisengart and their families.

The family requests contributions in Evan’s memory be made to the Salisbury Volunteer Ambulance Squad.

A memorial service was held Oct. 28 at the Salisbury Congregational Church. Arrangements are under the care of the Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon.
