Edward Martin Killmer

AMENIA — Edward Martin Killmer, 77, a lifelong resident of Amenia and Wassaic, died Oct. 23, 2017, at Sharon Health Care Center.  

Mr. Killmer worked for his father, James Killmer Refuge, in Wassaic and later worked as a box printer at Tri-Wall Container in Wassaic. For 27 years, Mr. Killmer was a painter at the Harlem Valley Psychiatric Center, retiring in 1995. 

Born on June 11, 1940, in Upper Red Hook, N.Y., he was the son of the late Margaret (Ecoline) and James Killmer. Mr. Killmer was a member of the CSEA Local #909 and a life member and past lieutenant of the Wassaic Fire Company. He was an avid bowler, hunter and outdoorsman. Mr. Killmer was also a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Church in Amenia.

Mr. Killmer is survived by his former wife, Dorothy Killmer of Wassaic; a son, Ryan Edward Killmer and his wife, Kristi, of Millerton; a brother, James Killmer of Amenia; two sisters, Joan Dietter of Millerton and Helen Harrod of Wassaic; two grandchildren, Kaitlyn and Nate Killmer; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Killmer was predeceased by three brothers, Vincent, Richard and Joseph Killmer; and three sisters, Marion Delaney, Beverly Boyles and Jeanie Killmer. 

The Wassaic Fire Company conducted Firematic services on Oct. 29. Funeral services followed, the Rev. R. Kent Wilson officiating. Burial at Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Amenia was private. 

Arrangements are under the care of the Hufcut Funeral Home in Dover Plains.
