A hard rain

It wasn’t just leaves that were falling during the last week of sometimes heavy rains. Tree limbs fell across roads and onto power lines throughout the Northwest Corner — and were quickly cleaned up by town and state crews. There were flash flood warnings on Sunday night, Oct. 29, but the Housatonic River did not reach flood stage. Water levels did increase significantly, however, from about 2.5 feet to nearly 5 feet between 8 a.m. Sunday and 8 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30. The tree seen above fell on Old Asylum Road in Lakeville.
