Doris Wetmore

WINSTED — Doris Wetmore, 76, of B2 Nanni Drive, died peacefully on July 23, 2010, with her family by her side. She was the loving wife of Robert Wetmore. The couple were just a few months shy of their 49th wedding anniversary.

Born Oct. 6, 1933, in New Hartford, she was a daughter of the late Mary Agnes (Valagerski) LaMere and Richard Lewis Stacy.

She attended local schools and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church. She was employed by Capitol Products and Son-Chief Electric and retired from New England Manufacturing.

Mrs. Wetmore was also a seamstress and caretaker and will be remembered as a very loving mother, wife, grandmother and great-grandmother who was close with her sisters and brother, who shared family get-togethers every summer and holidays.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three sons, Brian, Steven and Timothy Wetmore, all of Torrington; two daughters, Patricia Meuller and Susan Wetmore, both of Torrington; a brother, Richard J. Stacy of Winsted; a sister, Barbara Reeve of Winsted; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sisters, Helen Maxwell and Betty Sullivan.

Tuning up two passions under one roof

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”

Blues legend Robert Cray will be bringing his stinging, funky guitar and soulful singing to Infinity Hall Norfolk on Friday, March 29.

A five-time Grammy winner, Cray has been inducted into the Blues Hall of Fame and earned The Americana Music Awards Lifetime Achievement for Performance.
