Robert H. Mizgier

PINE PLAINS — Robert H. Mizgier, 74, died Sept. 1, 2017, at Northern Dutchess Hospital in Rhinebeck, N.Y.

He was born on July 13, 1943, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the son of Margaret (Potter) and Howard Mizgier.

Mr. Mizgier worked for McLean Ford in Millerton.

He served with the United States Army during the Viet Nam era.

Mr. Mizgier was captain of the fire police and treasurer of the Pine Plains Hose Company. He served for more than 33 years in the fire service. A member of the Dutchess County Fire Police Assoc., he was also a member of the national American Legion. 

On March 26, 1972, in Greenport, N.Y., he married Karen E. (Hines) Mizgier. She survives him at home.

In addition to his loving wife, Karen, he is survived by three children, Kelly Mizgier, Robert M. Mizgier and his wife, Coleen, and Kurt Mizgier and his wife, Debbie; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held Sept. 6  at the Peck and Peck Funeral Home in Pine Plains, the Rev. Carol Miller officiating. Interment followed in the Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.
