Maude Louise Haight

PINE PLAINS — Maude Louise Haight, 87, died Aug. 29, 2017, with her family by her side at the Sharon Health Care Center. 

She and her husband lived their entire lives in the Hudson Valley as part of the farming community. In the 1970s, they settled in the beautiful valley on Tripp Road in Millerton.

She was born Oct. 7, 1929, in the family home in Smithfield, Amenia, the daughter of the late Jerome Bernard Morrison and Emma Marsalla Hardisty. 

She attended the Square, a one-room schoolhouse in Stanfordville, the one-room schoolhouse in Smithfield and later the Millerton High School.

On April 12, 1950, she married Reginald L. Haight in front of the Justice of the Peace in Millbrook.

Mrs. Haight was an excellent cook and seamstress and enjoyed crocheting and knitting. Her creations were second to none, especially her doilies. 

She loved her animals and pets. 

She was strong minded and talented when it came to crafts and keeping a home.

She is survived by her sister, Eileen M. Moore of Pine Plains; and was predeceased by a brother, Bernard J. Morrison of Millerton.

In addition to her husband and sister, survivors include several nieces and nephews, Leonard Morrison and his wife, Patty, of Millerton, Lana Morrisson of Millerton, Stacey L. Moore of  Pine Plains, Bryan T. Moore of Milan, N.Y., Vicki M. Fallon of Millerton, Sherry Poupore and her husband, Foster, of Fletcher, N.C., Michele Hilpertshauser of California, Lisa Hilpertshauser of Scottsdale, Ariz., Lynn Costine and his wife, Barbara, of Pine Plains, Denise (Costine) FitzPatrick of Millbrook, April (Costine) LaDue and her husband, Eugene, of Albany, N.Y., Holly (Scanlon) Beaton of New Jersey, Karen Scanlon of Florida, Mark Scanlon, Frederick Mues, Debbie Mues, John Pearston and Laurie Pearston; several great-nieces and great-nephews; her sisters-in-law, Vivian Costine of Albany and Evelyn Boeckels of New Jersey; and her close friends, Vernon and Holly Schrom of  Gallatin, N.Y.

In addition to her brother, she was predeceased by her brother-in-law, Thomas J. Moore Jr.; her nieces, Martha (Morrisson) Kilmer and Teresa Jean Moore; and her nephew, Bruce Pearston; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ernie and Gladys Hilpertshauser of North Carolina, John and Lillian Pearston, John Boeckels of New Jersey, Richard and Betty (Haight) Scanlon of Florida, Frederick and Beatrice Mues of Florida; and Gordon Haight and Douglas Haight.

At the request of the family, there will be no services. Arrangements were handled by the Scott D. Conklin Funeral Home in Millerton.
