Zoltan Dorko

EAST CANAAN — Zoltan Dorko, 87, died Aug. 28, 2017,at St. Francis Hospital in Hartford with his family by his side. He was the husband of Beverly (Lyons) Dorko. 

Zoltan was born June 18, 1930, in Bekolce, Hungary, son of the late Marie (Perjo-Dorko) and Joseph Puka-Dorko.

Zoltan graduated from McMaster University with a degree in chemistry. He spent a successful career at Polysar, one of the largest global producers of rubber products. While working for Polysar, Zole traveled the world with his family. He spent time in Sarnia, Ontario; England; Switzerland; and the U.S. before retiring near his family in East Canaan. 

Zole was an avid golfer, skier and expert gardener. He was adored by his children and grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his four children, Greg Dorko, Wendy Caliri, John Dorko and Sandra Brown; his grandchildren, Joey and Dani Dorko, Téa and Mia Caliri, Katherine Jarosz and Cooper and Somer Brown.

Funeral services will be private. Memorial donations may be sent to the North Canaan Volunteer Ambulance Corps, P.O. Box 178, North Canaan, CT 06018.  Arrangements are under the care of Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.
