Rudd Pond weed situation and usability assessed by state officials

NORTH EAST — In July, the town made important strides in its mission to revitalize Rudd Pond by inviting state Sen. Sue Serino (R-41) and Assembly member Didi Barrett (D-106) to evaluate the pond and its weed infestation.

According to town Supervisor George Kaye, the main goal focused on obtaining assistance from the state as well as funds to purchase a weed harvester. After meeting with both state representatives on separate occasions, Kaye said both expressed a great deal of interest in the project, resulting in the July meeting.
