Joseph FireCrow dead

WINSTED — As this week’s issue of The Winsted Journal went to press, Economic Development Commission Chairman Phillip Allen announced that famed and award-winning Native American musician Joseph FireCrow passed away on Tuesday, July 11.

FireCrow was originally from the city of Lame Deer on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in southeastern Montana.

He met his wife Joann at a powwow 20 years ago in Hartford.

FireCrow won various national awards over the years and performed concerts at many events for charity.
