Gerald T. Misuraca

NEW HARTFORD — Gerald T. “Muzzy†Misuraca, 65, of Cottage Street died Feb. 3, 2010, at Charlotte Hungerford in Torrington following a long illness. He was the husband of Cecilia (McNally) Misuraca.

Born in Cambridge, Mass., April 13, 1944, he was a son of the late Mary (Miccicha) and Joseph Misuraca. He had attended schools in the Boston area and was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam War.

In addition to his wife of 39 years, he is survived by his children, Gerald T. Misuraca Jr. of New Hartford, Maria Oley and her husband, Robert, of Barkhamsted and Mishelle Misuraca of New Hartford; two brothers, Carmen Misuraca and Michael Misuraca, both of California; a sister, Dianne Misuraca and her husband, Frank Miller, of Winsted; and five grandchildren, Katie Oley, Joseph Misuraca, Tayler Oley, Robbi Oley and Michael Oley.

Graveside services will be held at a later date in Forest View Cemetery in the spring with full military honors. Maloney Funeral Home, Winsted, has care of the arrangements. Water main cleaning in North Canaan

Tuning up two passions under one roof

Magic Fluke Ukulele Shop and True Wheels Bicycle Shop are not only under the same roof in a beautiful solar powered building on Route 7 in Sheffield, but they are also both run by the Webb family, telling a tale of familial passion, innovation and a steadfast commitment to sustainability.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
