Fishermen from all over take part in annual derby

RIVERTON — The 67th annual Riverton Fishing Derby was held on Saturday, April 9.

Derbies were held throughout the Farmington River.

This year, hundreds of fishermen entered into the event, including contestants both in the youth and adult categories.

However, according to event statistics only 23 fishermen were able to catch a fish.

The event started at 6 a.m. with fishermen lining up and down the Farmington River, mostly under a bridge overlooking the river itself.
