Spring is here

The spring peepers, having defrosted, have resumed the vernal chorus. I cannot drive by a swamp at the dimming of the day without rolling down my windows to hear them. I missed the salamander migration this year in the cold rain and snow, but untold thousands of singing tree frogs insist on being heard. They are among the most anticipated, undeniable signs of spring, and I feel young again each year with their arrival.
