NWR7 varsity hoops team advances in tourney

WINSTED – It was not pretty or confidence-boosting, but the Highlanders got the job done on Friday, Feb. 24.

The Northwestern Regional boys’ varsity basketball team (16-5) overcame Terryville (10-11)  45-37 in a low-scoring slugfest, advancing in the Berkshire League tournament.

After finishing third in the league standings behind Lewis Mills and Wamogo, the Highlanders kicked off their post-season campaign hoping to match last year’s finals appearance, but could only offer a relatively uninspired performance against the Kangaroos.
