Sharing holiday cheer

CORNWALL — The Cornwall Library is showcasing a holiday village made by Robert Charity. He and his late wife, Cynthia, spent years collecting figurines, some of which are metal-cast antiques. Many of the lighted ceramic village buildings were made by Cynthia Charity.

A dollhouse, made by  Charity for his wife, is also on display. The detailed Colonial-style miniature features working lights, each with its own switch, some furnishings made by Charity — and the family pets lining up for a drink from the commode.

The display will remain at the library through December.

In the late ‘90s, Dale Webb was working in engineering and product design at a corporate job. “I took up instrument manufacturing as a fun challenge,” said Dale. After an exhibit at The National Association of Music Merchants in Anaheim, California, in 1999, The Magic Fluke company was born. “We were casting finger boards and gluing these things together in our basement in New Hartford and it just took off,” Dale explained. “It was really a wild ride, it kind of had a life of its own.”
