Schools budget shows 2.97 % rise (so far)

The Region One School District draft budget proposal for 2017-18 contains an increase of 2.97 percent, according to budget committee members Jonathan Moore of Kent and Robert Whalen of Sharon.

A 2.97 percent increase over the current budget of $15,494,235 is about $460,000.

The two reported to the Region One Board of Education during the regular meeting Monday, Feb. 6.

Moore said the 2017-18 budget proposal was the most challenging he has experienced in his seven years on the board.
