Guilty verdict for second of four charged in Vitalis killing

SHARON — The second of the three men accused of murdering 23-year-old Luke Vitalis at his Sharon home in August 2012 was convicted on  Wednesday, Feb. 1, in Litchfield Superior Court of murder during the commission of a felony, murder and six other charges, including home invasion and tampering with physical evidence.

The conviction of Hiral Patel, 28, a resident of Branford, Conn., followed that of his cousin Niraj Patel on Feb. 4, 2016. Still to be tried are the alleged shooter, Michael Calabrese, and Niraj Patel’s younger brother, Shyam.
