No go for fire truck's eBay bid

FALLS VILLAGE — The 1984 Chevy fire truck you might have spotted on eBay is the latest piece of outdated town equipment marketed on the online auction site.

Town Clerk Mary Palmer said there were no bidders during the online auction, although there were several inquiries, including one from South America.

But the auction has generated some “local interest and Palmer said Monday that she hopes a buyer will come forth soon.

Palmer has sold other things for the town on eBay, including a wood chipper known as “Chuck and Duck.

Area dealers only offered $500 for Chuck and Duck, but a man from Ohio bid $3,100 and drove to Falls Village in a snowstorm to pick it up.

The chipper was missing some safety features. “Chuck and Duck refers to the technique of operation.
