'Hot' spots in kitchen tour

LAKEVILLE —Emily Parker  and Julia Finkelstein added drama and grace to an Indian Mountain Road kitchen that was part of the annual kitchen tour on Nov. 1 to benefit the Housatonic Musical Theatre Society. The two Housatonic Valley Regional High School students have appeared in several recent theater productions. The show this spring will be Cole Porter’s  “Anything Goes.â€

The musical theater group was in hiatus at the high school for many years but was revived six years ago, under the direction of Michael Berkeley and Lori Belter.

This year’s tour featured nine kitchens in Salisbury, Falls Village, Cornwall and Kent. About 200 people turned out, fewer than last year by about 25 percent. But the kitchens themselves were deemed spectacular.

“This tour had some fabulous kitchens with great cooking spaces, views, and wonderful renovations, plenty of food and absolutely beautiful flower arrangements,â€ said Joyce Finkelstein,  mother of Julia and also an organizer of the tour.  “The raffle was a success as well, and the setting and presentation for the raffle were lovely.â€
