All persons liable to pay PERSONAL PROPERTY TAXES in the Town of Sharon are required to return to the Assessor’s office, on or before November 2, 2015, a list of taxable personal property belonging to them on the first day of October 2015. All business assets include, but are not limited to: manufacturing and industrial machinery and equipment; office fixtures, furniture, equipment and supplies; farm machinery and tools; tools of your trade; electronic data processing equipment.    

All horses, ponies, unregistered motor vehicles, vehicles registered out of state that are garaged in Sharon and leased equipment located in the Town of Sharon are taxable, whether they are a business asset or a personal asset. 

Any business or individual required to return a list may obtain the proper form  from the Assessor’s office, if they have not received a form in the mail.  Failure to receive a form by mail does not excuse a property owner from filing.

Grant Announcement and Application for Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Program Land Acquisition Projects 

The Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Natural Resource Damages (NRD) Program, as Lead Administrative Trustee for the Massachusetts SubCouncil (MA SubCouncil) of the Housatonic River Trustee Council for the GE/Housatonic NRD settlement, announces the October 7, 2015, release of the Grant Announcement and Application (Doc. No, BWSC-2015-NRD-03) for a second subround of Land Acquisition Projects to conserve habitat in the Housatonic River Watershed of Massachusetts as described in the Final Round 3 Restoration Plan and Supplemental Environmental Assessment (Round 3 RP/SEA) for the Housatonic River Watershed Restoration Program. The total value of available funding for this subround of Land Acquisition Projects is $853,000. Multiple grants may be awarded. Details regarding project eligibility and instructions for submitting a grant application are provided in the Grant Announcement and Application package. 

The Grant Announcement and Application will be available online on the MassDEP NRD Program website at: http://www.mass.gov/eea/agencies/massdep/cleanup/nrd/nrd-restoration-fun... and on the Commonwealth Procurement website (COMMBUYS) at: www.commbuys.com. A Town Meeting of electors and citizens qualified to vote in town meetings in the Town of Salisbury, Connecticut, will be held at Salisbury Town Hall, 27 Main Street, Salisbury, Connecticut on Wednesday, October 14, 2015 at 7:30 p.m. for the following purposes.

To consider and act upon a resolution to set Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. as the date for the Annual Town Meeting in the Town Hall to receive and act upon the audited financial report and the Annual Town Report from the Chairman of the Board of Finance and Treasurer of the Town for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015.

To consider and act upon a resolution to set Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 7:30 p.m. as the date for the Annual Budget Meeting in the Town Hall.

To consider and act upon a transfer of up to $125,000 from Highway Road Funds into Highway Capital.

To amend Ordinance No. 111, Establishment of Affordable Housing Commission, Section 3A to increase the membership from 7 members to 9 members.  

To do any other business proper to come before said meeting.

Pursuant to Sec. 12-145 of the Connecticut statutes, the taxpayers of the Town of Salisbury are hereby notified that the second installment on the Grand List of October 1, 2014 is due and payable on October 1, 2015. Payments must be received or postmarked by November 2, 2015. If said Real Estate and Personal Property taxes are not paid on or before November 2, 2015, interest at the rate of one and one half percent (18% per year) will be added for each month or a fraction thereof which elapses from the time when such tax becomes due and payable until the same is paid. Minimum interest charge is $2.00.

Taxes can be paid by mail addressed to: Tax Collector, P.O. Box 338, Salisbury, CT 06068 or at the Town Hall in Salisbury, CT on Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
