Car wash Oct. 10, Rotary Interact

LAKEVILLE — Rotary Interact Club members from Housatonic Valley Regional High School will be working to raise money for two purposes by having a community car wash Columbus Day weekend.

They will put any money raised toward a challenge grant that Bill Gates has given to Rotary International to eliminate polio completely, and also toward the purchase of shelter boxes, which are emergency homes provided to victims of disaster.

“The goal is to raise $500 toward eliminating polio,†said Salisbury Rotarian Inge Dunham, also the Rotary Interact Club advisor, “which is still a danger in many countries outside of Western nations.â€

“We would also like to raise $500 to purchase shelter boxes. Shelter boxes are so important in any natural disaster, and it’s volunteers who organize everything to send the boxes out to areas that need them. They really need the help,†she said.

The car wash will take place at the Lakeville Hose Company at the corner of routes 41 and 44 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 10. Cars are $5, SUVs are $7 and donations are welcome. For further information, call Dunham at 860-435-2170.
