North East Community Center’s (NECC) After-School Connection carried out its eighth annual Empty Bowls program throughout the last full week of March.

The project, consisting of students from the Eugene Brooks Intermediate School (EBIS), started with local artist Diane Shapira’s Pottery Club.

Finished products from that club were then donated to the Empty Bowls crew — supervised by Webutuck technology teacher John Roccanova — and brought to teachers’ lounge rooms on Monday for purchase.

Additional bowls are donated by Shapira and Paul Chaleff, a potter from Ancram.
