Renzullo wins 63rd, will face Jay Case

WINSTED — Winchester Selectman Michael Renzullo won the Democratic nomination for the state’s 63rd District House seat Tuesday night, Aug. 14, beating Torrington businessman Doug Benedetto and setting himself up for a race against fellow Laurel City resident and former Selectman Jay Case.

Renzullo took home 405 votes from the newly redrawn 63rd District, compared to Benedetto’s 303. The district, which formerly covered towns stretching from Barkhamsted to North Canaan, now includes just four towns — Winchester, Colebrook and portions of Torrington and Goshen.
