Tax collector resigns, assistant fills spot

FALLS VILLAGE — At a quick regular monthly meeting of the Board of Selectmen Monday, Aug. 13, First Selectman Pat Mechare reported that the initial numbers indicate about $80,000 in unexpended funds from the 2011-12 fiscal year, and said that all the allocations to various capital accounts specified in the budget have been met.

The “up-tos” — as in “up to $20,000” — are usually earmarked for items such as fire-fighting apparatus and highway department vehicles.
