WINSTED — A 70-year old Winchester woman achieved a long-held dream to swim the length of Highland Lake, from top to bottom, on Tuesday morning, July 31, in turn raising $750 for the Highland Lake Watershed Association.

Sue Peacock, an avid swimmer who lives on East Wakefield Boulevard, said she has been swimming at Highland Lake since she was a child growing up in the 1940s. She said she was inspired to swim the length of the lake by neighbor Larry Beck, 67, who has completed the feat three times and will again complete the swim on Aug. 11.
