Sophisticated wines on an old family farm

NORTH CANAAN — Wine glasses clink on the tiled bar of the winery. The host is generous in pouring tastes of red, white and fruity dessert varieties. No one is hurried, but the room will fill in waves as new arrivals patiently await their turn.

The Land of Nod Winery is a place locals often drive by without a second glance. The Adam homestead has been there forever (relative to civilization in this area), once a part of the great iron age that defined Lower Road along the Blackberry River in East Canaan.
