Eleanor (Curtis) Mechare

SALISBURY — Eleanor (Curtis) Mechare, formerly of the Lime Rock section of Salisbury, died July 20, 2012, at Geer Village in North Canaan. She was the widow of William Mechare.

Born Nov. 3, 1923, she was the daughter of Jessie (Adam) and John H. Curtis of Lakeville.

She lived most of her life in Lime Rock. She was a gifted maker of a variety of crafts and knitted and crocheted items. Eleanor was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

She is survived by a son, Curt, and his wife, Patricia, of Falls Village; three grandchildren, Jason and his wife, Heather, of Falls Village, Ethan of London, England, and Catherine of Bristol, Conn.; a great-granddaughter, Madeline Mechare, and a great-grandson, Gavin Mechare, of Falls Village; and a brother, John Curtis of Salisbury.

Burial was in Grassy Hill Cemetery in Falls Village. All services were private.

Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.
