WINSTED — It’s been remarkably sunny and hot in recent weeks, but winter skiing was in season for 35 participants during Morsel Munk’s first Rail Jam on Saturday, July 14.

The event, held outside the independent sporting goods store’s South Main Street location, was co-sponsored by New Hartford’s Ski Sundown ski resort, which brought two truckloads of freshly made snow to the event.

The snow was patted down by participants with shovels and made into a steep ramp going downhill toward a long metallic rail, thus the name “Rail Jam.”
