Region One 2013 budget is accepted on second try

FALLS VILLAGE — The Region One budget passed a second referendum vote Thursday, May 31, by a vote of 500-407. The budget is $14,689,096, which is up $10,000, or .07 percent, from the 2011-12 fiscal year, which ends June 30, 2012.

Turnout in the six member towns — Cornwall, Falls Village (town of Canaan), Kent, North Canaan, Salisbury and Sharon — was 907, down by 137 from the first vote on the budget, which was May 8. Salisbury was the only town with a higher turnout (253 on May 8 and 263 on May 31).
