Gearheads robotics team earns national rookie award

WINSTED — Northwestern Regional High School’s FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) robotics team, the Gearheads, earned the Rookie All-Star award at the National Robotics Competition Championships, which were held April 25 to 28 in St. Louis, Mo.

The Gearheads team was formed at the school in November. The group of 17 students, along with their mentors, built a robot to take part in the regional and national competitions.
