School officials deserve apology after audit

Weeks, months and years of accusations that Winchester school officials somehow stole $636,000 in 2009-10 came to an abrupt end April 27, when a state audit of that year’s school budget revealed that no illegal transactions occurred and that federal grant money was spent properly that year, to maintain staffing levels in the schools after state cutbacks in Education Cost Sharing (ECS) funding.
