COLEBROOK — State Rep. John Rigby (R-63) announced this week that he will not seek a third term in the state House of Representatives, leaving the seat open to Republicans, Democrats and independent challengers this fall.
At least three candidates from Winsted have already shown interest in taking the seat.
Rigby, a Colebrook resident, said the demands of his job and desire to be closer to his family played into his decision.
“It was a difficult decision to step away, but I have no doubt that it’s the right move for me and my family,” he said in an April 2 press release.
