Schools react to Cuomo’s budget

HARLEM VALLEY — At the beginning of the month, Gov. Andrew Cuomo presented his budget proposal for the state of New York, which would cut aid to school districts statewide by 7.3 percent, part of a $1.5 billion reduction in overall cuts to education.

The proposal would affect every school district in the area, but as talks with district superintendents revealed, each district is approaching this year’s budget process in slightly different ways.
