School helps with Japan Relief Week

WEBUTUCK — During the week of Monday, March 21, to Friday, to March 25, the students and faculty at Webutuck Elementary School (WES) held a spirit week to raise funds for victims of Japan’s devastating earthquake and tsunami. Each day a different event took place (Hat Day, Slipper Day, Stuffed Animal Day, Backwards Day and Red and White Day).

Students and faculty donated $1 for each day that they chose to participate. Many donated much more. As a thank-you, David Friedman, a WES teacher whose wife is from Japan, donated a handmade paper crane to each person who participated.
