McGuire’s paintings play with local views

SHARON — Colleen McGuire never expected to be a resident of a rural area.

The painter, a native of Canada who always considered herself a city dweller, moved to Sharon more than a decade ago and says she now couldn’t imagine living away from the countryside — and from the rural vistas and views that are a focus of her work.

McGuire’s canvases are on display at the Hotchkiss Library of Sharon, in a solo exhibit that opened Feb. 1.
