Lone Oak bikers help wishes come true

NORTH CANAAN — Bikers in studded leather and their chromed pipes were on display at Lone Oak Campsites, but only briefly. After paying an entry fee, checking out an impressive array of donated prizes and perusing a map, they were off on a 120-mile motorcycle ride to raise funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation.

The Father’s Day ride — known as Wishes on Wheels — and picnic is one of many events throughout the summer at the campgrounds. The participants have coalesced into a close-knit community of summer friends who take pride in helping others.
