Allen ‘Bucky’ Hubbard Sr.

WINSTED — Allen “Bucky” Hubbard Sr., 64, died suddenly on Feb. 23, 2011.  He was the loving husband of Patricia (Minard) Hubbard, who died in 1993. 

Born Jan. 3, 1947, in Winsted, he was the son of the late Camilla (Carey) and Harold Hubbard. 

Mr. Hubbard was a lifelong resident of Winsted, graduating from Oliver Wolcott Technical School and then serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam period. He worked as a machinist at B&D of North Canaan  until 1983.

He loved fishing, camping and being with his family and spending time with his grandchildren, who meant the world to him. He was an avid NASCAR fan, loved to race cars, enjoyed fixing things and helping others. 

He is survived by two sons, Allen Hubbard Jr. and his wife, Jennifer, of Winsted and Jerry Hubbard and his wife, Amy, of Florida;  three brothers, Harold Hubbard Jr. and his wife, Joyce, of Arkansas, Peter Hubbard of Winsted and Dennis Hubbard of Torrington; four sisters, Judy Chipman and her husband, Gerald, of Winsted, Mary Kret and her husband, Francis, of Winsted, Nancy Booth and her husband, John, of Winsted and Cindy Day and her husband, Ray, of Collinsville; five grandchildren, William, Alexis, Benjamin, Timothy and Zachery; two sisters-in-law, Betty Bishop and her husband, Kim, of Torrington and Sandy McCullough and her husband, Glen, of Torrington; a brother-in-law, Elzwood Minard and his wife, Debbie, of Winsted; and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by two sisters, Sally Liutermoza and Lois Spencer; father- and mother-in-law Elzwood and Marie Minard; and two sisters-in-law, Debbie Martin and her husband, Noel, and Linda Hubbard.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 4, 6 p.m., at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, Winsted. Friends may call Friday, March 4, from 4 to 6 p.m. Burial will be in the spring with full military honors.
