Disappointed with Editorial

This letter is in response to Mike Marciano’s editorial in The Winsted Journal on Jan 25.

As I was growing up and life happened, not always as I planned or not always as I wanted, my Dad would tell me. “well sometimes life just isn’t fair” but you move on and just keep on living life.

A town so quiet, small and safe
is now in shock, succumbed by fear.
One Friday morn
with Christmas days ahead,

Worried about the fiscal cliff
A supercommittee was formed to agree on ways to reduce the unsupportable U.S. debt that threatens to bankrupt the country. They came up with a default penalty of extremely high tax increases and spending cuts, effective in the event they did not agree on ways to preserve the economy and our way of life.

Thanks to all who helped with campaign
I’m writing to thank everyone who volunteered to help with my campaign as well as folks who voted for me on Election Day — the great support I received throughout the 63rd District was truly humbling.
I want to specifically thank my wife and family along with the tireless work by my campaign manager, Lisa Smith. Thanks also to my opponent for running a clean campaign all the way to the end.

Anatomy of the spoilers
Here’s the way opponents of the budget get to “no.” Assert, spout platitudes, deflect responsibility, contrive slogans, make the pitch, fail to propose any solutions, and blame the people.
A Sept. 7 letter to the editor from Selectmen Fracasso and Albanesius is a perfect example.
Winsted has an “unsustainable financial situation” and is on the brink of “municipal crisis”? Where is the evidence to support this misleading statement?

Thanks to participants in annual fishing derby
Another successful Elks Kids’ Fishing Derby happened this year only because of the tremendous help of our volunteers and sponsors. The Friends of Tatro’s Pond were led by Todd Davis, Steve Blosser and Dave Hubbard (aka Big Foot), along with several of our lodge officers and members. They are the backbone of this endeavor.
