Donald Simmons, 58, was arrested again on charges of possessing child pornography by the state police on Feb. 2, 2017.

The charges date back to 2015. The police interrogation of Simmons took place at the Osborn Correctional Institution in Somers, Conn., where according to the police arrest warrant he has been incarcerated for almost two years.

Simmons, a former resident of Sharon Valley Road, was convicted in 1995 of harassment in the second degree, and in 2010 of sexual assault in the second degree, tampering with a witness and violation of probation.

One-car incident

Abigail Christine Wood, 32, of Sharon was driving a 2002 Honda CRV on Route 4/Furnace Brook Road in Cornwall near the intersection with West Street on July 13 at about 11:40 a.m.

Sexual assault arrest

On Tuesday, May 17, New York State Police Bureau of Criminal Investigation at Dover Plains arrested a 23-year-old Amenia man following an investigation of a reported sexual assault.

The following information was provided by the Connecticut State Police at Troop B. All suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Saws stolen

Troop B received a report May 11 at 9 p.m. of chain saws and a brush saw stolen from a residence on Popple Swamp Road in Cornwall. The case is under investigation.

Trespass arrest

Benjamin P. Doty, 33, of Ancram, was arrested at 10:41 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 2, and charged with criminal trespass in the second degree (class A misdemeanor) and harassment in the second degree (violation) by Sergeant Brian Molinski and Deputy Patrick McMahon.

Felony DWI arrest

On Dec. 13, 2015, New York State Police from the Livingston barracks arrested 50-year-old David O’Connor of Ancram for Driving While Intoxicated, a Class D Felony, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the 1st Degree, a Class E Felony.

Firearm theft charges

The Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports the arrest of Scott Sweeney, 39, of Dover Plains, for grand larceny in connection with a stolen rifle from the town of Wappinger.

State Police

Pickup hits pole

Michael Morzella, 55, of Goshen, Conn., was driving south on Westside Road in Norfolk Aug. 24. At about 4:21 p.m., near the Mountain Road intersection, he lost control. His 2004 Ford F550 hit and broke a utility pole. The truck was towed with left front end damage. Morzella was not injured. He was charged with making a restricted turn.
