Kathleen M. ‘Kay’ Bryant

ANCRAM — Kathleen M. “Kay” Bryant, 87, a lifelong resident, passed away on Dec. 2, 2018, at Whittier Rehab and Nursing Center in Ghent, N.Y. 

She was born on July 13, 1931, in Sharon, the daughter of Mae (Hall) and Aubrey Corbett. 

Kay along with her husband and sons Terry and Thomas were owners and operators of CY Bryant Dairy Farm in Ancram. 

On Nov. 5, 1949, in Philmont, N.Y., she married Milton L. “CY” Bryant. He predeceased her on April 23, 2008.

Heinrich Wirth

LAKEVILLE — Heinrich Wirth, 83, a longtime resident of Lakeville, died peacefully in his home on Nov. 30, 2018.

Born Feb. 28, 1935, in Munich, Germany he was the son of Angelika and Georg Wirth of Munich, Germany.

He was Ursula’s loving husband and father of four.

NORTH CANAAN — A Mass of Christian Burial for Vinnie Farrell will be held on Thursday, Dec. 13, at 11 a.m. in St. Martin of Tours/St. Joseph Church in North Canaan. 

Vinnie was a long-time resident of the town of North Canaan. He is fondly remembered for the years of service he gave the town as a school crossing guard.

Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.

Joan Hewins

GREAT BARRINGTON — Patricia Joan (Horan) Hewins, 88,  passed away peacefully on Dec. 1, 2018, in her home, lovingly surrounded by family.  

She was born Sept. 24, 1930, in Albany, N.Y., to the late John S. Horan and Rena Coakley McGuire and stepfather Henry McGuire.

 Joanie was raised in Great Barrington and was a 1948 graduate of Searles High School. She was married to the late Walter “Bud” Hewins Jr. on June 24, 1950, until his death on March 31, 2005. 

Lillian H. Cecchinato

NORTH CANAAN — Lillian H. Cecchinato, 91, the widow of Nicholas J. Cecchinato Jr., a lifelong North Canaan resident, left her family and loving caregivers on Nov 30, 2018. Lillian quietly departed the Geer Nursing Facility to check into a much grander and glorious house that awaited her (John 14: 1-3).

In the immediate hours after her death, the kindest gentleman and family friend came to her bedside to reaffirm Lillian’s deep faith and to assuage the deep sadness of saying goodbye. 

Lillian was born Dec. 4, 1926.

Marjorie A. Baldwin

PINE PLAINS — Marjorie A. Baldwin, 78, passed away on Nov. 26, 2018, at ArchCare at Ferncliff Nursing Home in Rhinebeck, N.Y.

She was born on Jan. 4, 1940, in Sharon, the daughter of Gladys Mae (Gregory) and George W. Wesley.

Marjorie was a home health care aide.  

She enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, reading and crocheting. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.  

Elizabeth (Claster) Rice

SALISBURY — Elizabeth (Claster) Rice, 52, of Dedham, Mass., passed away on Nov. 21, 2018, at her home surrounded by her loving family. 

Liddy, as she was affectionately known by her friends and family, was born in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 12, 1966. She was the eldest daughter of Bertram and Fredericka Claster of Lock Haven, Pa. 

Liddy was a beloved daughter and wife, devoted mother and mother-in-law, loving nanny, supportive sibling, adoring aunt and niece, and a fiercely loyal friend and dedicated teacher.

David Vincent Peppe

NORTH CANAAN — David Vincent Peppe, 69, of North Canaan died on Nov. 24, 2018, after a prolonged battle with pancreatic cancer, surrounded by members of his loving family. 

He was born in Sharon on March 22, 1949, the son of Shirley Mae (Budds) and Dr. Vincent J. Peppe. 

On Aug. 7, 1976, he married Linda Law, and they raised two children, Daniel and Louise. 

Marilyn G. (Gleason) Miele

EAST CANAAN — Marilyn G. (Gleason) Miele, 83, died Nov. 21, 2018, at Noble Horizons with her daughter, Jennifer, at her bedside. 

She was the widow of Joseph Miele, who passed on in 2005. 

She was born Sept. 15, 1935, in Danbury, Conn., the daughter of the late Esther Gertrude (Cole) and Earl Gleason.

Marilyn was employed in the Barkhamsted School system as a teacher. She earned her B.S. in 1957 from Western Connecticut State University. 

Harriet Elizabeth Hoffman

SALISBURY — Harriet Elizabeth Hoffman, age 76,  died on Nov. 5, 2018, at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center in Boston, Mass., after a 14-month battle with AML. 

She was  the daughter of the late John Norton Hoffman and Elizabeth Warner Hoffman of  Briarcliff Manor, N.Y., and Salisbury. 

Harriet graduated from Briarcliff High School (1960), Grinnell College (1964) and  Katherine Gibbs (1966).
