Joseph N. Palladino Jr.

NORTH CANAAN — Joseph N. Palladino Jr., 71, died at his home on July 13, 2017, surrounded by his loving family, after a courageous battle with cancer. 

Joseph was born June 10, 1946, in Boston, Mass., the son of the late Margaret (Iovanni) and Joseph N. Palladino Sr. 

Joseph was a restaurateur. He also was an avid car collector.

Adele (Middlebrook) Casey

KENT — Adele Middlebrook Casey passed away peacefully in Sharon on July 13, 2017. 

Dell was born on Jan. 5, 1928, to Adelbert Knickerbocker and Cecelia McCarthy Middlebrook and grew up with her sister, Mildred M. Pitcher, in the family home in Sharon Valley. 

She attended Sharon Center School and graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School with the Class of 1946.

Howard Karshan

LAKEVILLE — The family and friends of Howard Karshan, 83, a part-time but over-45-year resident of Lakeville, remember with continuing sadness the death of Howard on March 21, 2017. 

Howard is survived by his wife of 48 years, Linda Karshan; his sons Roger and Thomas; his daughter-in-law, Ali Karshan; and his beloved granddaughters, Georgia and Harper.

Edith May Loverin

FALLS VILLAGE — Edith May Loverin, 99, died July 9, 2017, at Valerie Manor in Torrington. She was the wife of the late Alfred Loverin and Paul Mansfield.

Mrs. Loverin was born in Falls Village on Oct. 18, 1917, daughter of the late Minnie (Mattis) and Arthur B. Smith, and had been a lifelong area resident. 

She was a retired factory employee with the Becton-Dickinson Company in North Canaan, retiring with 20 years of service. 

Guy Castle

AMENIA — Guy Castle, 82,  a resident of Amenia and New York City, died July 3, 2017,from an accident at home in Amenia.

He was born on July 23, 1934, in Angels Camp, Calif. Guy came to New York City as a scholarship student at Columbia University and, after receiving his master’s degree, was the administrator for the Columbia physics department for 32 years. 

Ruth Hemion (Ramp) Wanstall

SHARON — Ruth Hemion (Ramp) Wanstall, 89, of Clifton Forge, Va., died July 7, 2017, at the Brian Center Health and Rehabilitation Center in Low Moor, Va.

She was born Sept. 4, 1927, in East Rutherford, N.J., to the late Edith A. (Hemion) and Fredrick Ramp. 

Ruth retired from Sharon Hospital as a lab technician and was a former member of the South Amenia Presbyterian Church in New York. 

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her first husband, William David Jeffery; and her second husband, the Rev. Robert Wanstall.

FALLS VILLAGE — A memorial celebration for Megan Ruth Alexander (June 3, 1957, to Jan. 25, 2017)will be held on Saturday, July 22, at the Canaan Pine Grove Association on Belden Street (Route 126, one quarter mile south of Route 44)  in Falls Village.

Join Megan’s family and friends sharing memories at 1 p.m. in the Ward Memorial Chapel, with a light luncheon and mementos at 2 p.m. in the Community Clubhouse.

Stephen Bowen Jr.

SHARON—Stephen Bowen Jr., 73, of Sharon succumbed after a short but courageous battle with lung cancer on July 6, 2017. 

Born in Worcester, Mass., in 1944, living with extended family while his father was serving in World War II, he was raised in Greenwich, Conn., where he attended the St. Mary’s School. He went on to graduate from the College of the Holy Cross, Class of 1965, where he majored in economics and played rugby. 

Andrew R. Zujus

EAST CANAAN — Andrew R. Zujus, 72, died July 7, 2017,at the Smilow Cancer Hospital in New Haven, Conn., after a courageous battle with leukemia.  

He was born in Waterbury on Oct. 4, 1944, son of the late Mary (Navickas) and Joseph Zujus.

After graduating from Woodbury High School, Andrew earned his accounting degree from Bentley College. He dedicated his career to the agricultural community, in the parts department and in accounting and finance.
