Arthur Garfield Palmer Jr.

SHARON — Arthur Garfield Palmer Jr., 90, of Cambridge, N.Y., died Dec. 20, 2011, at the Centers for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington, Vt.

Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Sharon, he was the son of the late Pauline (Masius) and Arthur G. Palmer.

Ann (Cooley) Buckley

SHARON—Ann (Cooley) Buckley died at her home in Sharon on Dec. 30, 2011, surrounded by her family.

She was born in 1927, the daughter of Helen (Pierce) and Victor E. Cooley, grew up in Rye, N.Y., attended the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Noroton, Conn., and graduated from Manhattanville College in New York City in 1949.

Priscilla (Schieffelin) Coords

WARREN — Priscilla (Schieffelin) Coords, 94, died Dec. 18, 2011, at her daughter’s home in Sharon, surrounded by her family. She was the widow of Deane M. Coords.

Priscilla was born May 14, 1917, in New York City, the daughter of the late Alfred Eric Todd and Barbara Schieffelin Nunn. She attended the Nightingale-Bamford School, the Todd-Hunter School and later the Katherine Gibbs School in New York City.

Norman Stuart Eklund

SHARON — Norman Stuart Eklund, 92, widower of Mary Eklund and Elsie Eklund, died Dec. 31, 2011, after a brief illness.

Born in Lowell, Mass., he was a son of the late Grace (Mitchell) and Louis Eklund.

Mr. Eklund graduated from Amherst College with a degree in animal husbandry and retired as a farmer and herdsman.

He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic Church in Sharon and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.

Mr. Eklund was a former volunteer fireman, a Justice of the Peace and a Boy Scout leader, and was on the Sharon Board of Education.

He loved woodworking.

John Feathers

NORTH CANAAN — John Feathers, 89, of South Canaan Road, died of natural causes after a short illness at Sharon Hospital, with his family by his side.

Born on March 1, 1922, at home in East Canaan, he was the son of Adelaide (Taylor) and Porter Feathers. John attended local schools and graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1941. After graduation he worked at Pratt & Whitney in East Hartford before enlisting in the Navy in 1943. He was stationed in Hawaii for most of his tour of duty as an aviation mechanic.

Henry ‘Hank’ Nolan Germond

PINE PLAINS — Henry “Hank” Nolan Germond, 91, of Abernethy Laurels Retirement Community in Newton, N.C., died Dec. 22, 2011.

Born March 6, 1920, in Pine Plains, he was the only child of the late June (Elvina) Northrup Germond and Nolan Herbert Germond.

Hank received his elementary and secondary education in Pine Plains schools, where he was valedictorian of the class of 1937. He later graduated cum laude from the State University of New York at Albany and followed with a master’s degree in administration and guidance.

Gail M. Killmer

HILLSDALE — Gail M. Killmer, 62, a longtime resident of Hillsdale and formerly of Millerton, died Dec. 27, 2011, at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born June 26, 1949, in Mahopac, N.Y., the daughter of Freda (Houghtaling) Harpp of Millerton and the late William Harpp.

On Dec. 22, 1969, in Pine Plains, she married Walter R. Killmer, who survives at home.

Gail was previously employed as an aide, cook and activity director for Timberlyn Heights Nursing Home in Great Barrington.

Pearl O. Mansfield

LAKEVILLE — Pearl O. Mansfield, 91, of Main Street, died Dec. 25, 2011, at Williamstown Commons Nursing Home in Williamstown, Mass. She was the widow of Frederick Mansfield.

Pearl was born March 22, 1920, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Maude (Darling) and James Van Dyke.

She was a member of the National Woman’s Relief Corps and a charter member of the Lakeville Hose Co. Ladies Auxiliary.

Memorial service: Mary G. Bodell

LAKEVILLE — Mary G. (Gibney) Bodel, 90, widow of John K. Bodel and a longtime resident of Lakeville, died Dec. 19, 2011, at Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation. Mary was a longtime and active member of St. John’s Church in Salisbury.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be held at St. John’s on Jan. 14 at 11:30 a.m. Arrangements are under the care of the Newkirk-Palmer Funeral Home in North Canaan.

Clare Veronica Walsh

LAKEVILLE - Clare Veronica Walsh, the beloved child of Michael and Kathleen Walsh, died Dec. 25, 2011, in New York City.

She was born March 15, 1989, in Munich, Germany. She was also the adored sister of Alexandra Walsh.

Calling hours will be held at the Kenny Funeral Home in Sharon on Thursday, Dec. 29, from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Friday, Dec. 30, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. A Mass in celebration of her short and amazing life will be held at noon on Friday at the Church of St. Mary in Lakeville.
