ASHLEY FALLS — A Service of Committal will be held on Saturday, May 5, at 11 a.m. in the Ashley Falls Cemetery for John A. Rosier, who died at  his home on March 2, 2018, surrounded by his loving family. All are invited to attend.

Fannie Place

PINE PLAINS — Fannie Place, 100, died April 25, 2018, at Vassar Brother’s Medical Center in Poughkeepsie, N.Y.

She was born on March 4, 1918, in Dover Plains, the daughter of Minnie (Lawrence) and Vernon J. Cookingham. 

Phyllis Pickert

ASHLEY FALLS — Phyllis Pickert of Ashley Falls, 89, died April 27, 2018, surrounded by her family.  

Born Phyllis May Coro in North Anson, Maine, on Feb. 11, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Amy (Otis) and Frank Coro.

She was a graduate of Anson Academy in North Anson and Nasson College in Springvale, Maine, and lived also in Keene, N.H., and Watertown, Conn., before settling in the Berkshires in the early 1960s. 

She was a resident of Ashley Falls for more than 50 years. 

Andrew Chichester Nixon

SHARON — Andrew Chichester Nixon, 67, died April 25, 2018, in Sharon after a long illness. 

He and his twin brother, Peter, were born Aug. 11, 1950, in Washington, D.C., and were adopted at birth by  Jane (Remington) and Richard Nixon of Manhattan and Westminster Ridge, N.Y.

Andrew graduated from The Rye Country Day School in Rye, N.Y. 

Roald Muir Schopp

NORTH CANAAN — Roald Muir Schopp, 88, died on April 22, 2018, at his home in North Canaan, where he had resided since July 2017. 

He was born July 20, 1929, in New Rochelle, N.Y., the son of Lillian (Muir) and Arthur Christian Schopp. Roald grew up in New Rochelle and moved with his family to Sheffield, Mass., as a young teen. He graduated from Berkshire School in Sheffield as an accomplished athlete. 

Wendy Farwell Currier

NORTH CANAAN — Wendy (Farwell) Currier, 61, of North Canaan, died peacefully in the early morning on April 16, 2018, surrounded by her beloved children.

Wendy was born in Sharon on Dec. 25, 1956, the daughter of Ken Farwell Sr. and the late Lucy (Lovett) Farwell. She was one of seven children. 

Wendy attended local schools and was a graduate of Housatonic Valley Regional High School in the Class of 1974.

Francis Xavier Tansey

WEST CORNWALL — Francis Xavier Tansey, 73, died peacefully at home on April 17, 2018, with his wife, Karen, by his side.

Mr. Tansey was born Dec. 21, 1944, in Bayonne, N.J., to Catherine (Rooney) and Luke Tansey. He graduated from Rutgers University in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science degree in economics.

James Barry O’Rourke

KENT — James Barry O’Rourke, 84, passed away on April 17, 2018, in hospice care at The Village at Brookfield Commons, surrounded by his family. The cause of death was complications due to Alzheimer’s disease.

Barry (he never used the name James) was born on Aug. 6, 1933, in Providence, R.I., the son of Minerva (Kirk) and Eugene O’Rourke. The family soon moved to Buzzard’s Bay on Cape Cod, where Barry spent most of his childhood. 

Memorial service: Paulette (Lavigne) Zabriskie

WEST CORNWALL — There will be a memorial service at noon on Saturday, April 28, for Paulette (Lavigne) Zabriskie at St. Mary’s Church in Lakeville. Burial will follow at the North Cornwall cemetery.

Zabriskie, 88, died Feb. 23, 2018. 

Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s association at www.alz.org. 


Memorial service: Ethel L. (Tisserand) Warner

NORTH CANAAN — Family and friends of Mrs. Ethel L. (Tisserand) Warner, who passed on Jan. 8, 2018, are invited to attend a Service of Committal at 10 a.m. on Friday, April 20, at Mountain View Cemetery on Sand Road in North Canaan.  Ethel was the wife of Alexander Warner of North Canaan.
