Elizabeth (Adotte) Adam

EAST CANAAN — Elizabeth (Adotte) Adam, 52, of Sandy Hook, Conn., passed away on Palm Sunday, April 14, 2019, from complications related to breast cancer. 

Deirdre Teresa (Thompson) Epstein

AMENIA — Deirdre Teresa Thompson Epstein, 50, a lifelong resident of Amenia, passed away on March 18, 2019, at Yale New Haven Hospital in New Haven. 

Deirdre worked at several different retail stores. She was known as a fashionista who always knew the appropriate gift for all occasions. 

Born on Feb. 25, 1969, in Sharon, she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Murphy) and Kenneth Thompson. 

Deirdre was a graduate of Webutuck High School, Class of 1987. She later attended the University of New Haven. 

Barbara Hosier

AMENIA — Barbara Hosier passed away with her loving family by her bedside on April 11, 2019. She was a resident of Noble Horizons and former resident of Amenia.

Born at Sharon Hospital, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Louise Brendline.

She was predeceased in 2002, by her husband, George, and father to her surviving sons, Gregg and his fiancée,  Nancy, and Don and his wife, Melissa.

Yvonne Theresa Clarke

NORTH CANAAN — Yvonne Theresa Clarke of North Canaan, model, actress, artist, doll collector and wildlife rehabilitator, died peacefully on April 11, 2019. Her husband and high school sweetheart, Victor Samuel Clarke, in 1998 predeceased her.

Yvonne was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., in 1930 the only child of Robert and Corina Dearduff. 

Anna-Pearl C. ‘Pearl’ Madaras

SHARON — Anna-Pearl C. “Pearl” Madaras, 92, died April 8, 2019, at Sharon Hospital.  She was the widow of Joseph Madaras.  

Pearl was born May 27, 1926, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Marietta (Dyer) and Thomas Cathcart.

Pearl was employed as the cafeteria manager and the dietary manager at Sharon Hospital  She worked at the hospital for over 40 years.  

Edward B. Carter

GALLATIN, N.Y. — Edward B. Carter, 77, passed away at home on April 12, 2019.  

He was born on Sept. 6, 1941, in Lakeville, the son of Virginia (Kimble) and Edward T. Carter. 

He graduated from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1959. He attended Oliver Wolcott Technical School in Torrington and became a plumber for the Conneticut Plumber’s Union. He then worked for Perotti & Sons before becoming  a self-employed plumber. 

He was a member of the Empire Driving Club, of which he was a past officer.

Aldea Elizabeth Buckley

WASSAIC — Aldea Elizabeth Buckley, 85, a longtime resident of Wassaic, passed away on March 29, 2019, at Sharon Health Care Center. 

Mrs. Buckley worked as a housekeeper at Wassaic developmental center for 25 years, later working in food service at Webutuck Schools and as a certified nurse assistant. 

Born on Sept. 11, 1933, in Plattsburgh, N.Y., she was the daughter of the late Marie (Caron) and Everett  Buckley. 

On Sept. 24, 1955, in Amenia, she married Charles Buckley, who predeceased her on Jan. 13, 1987. 

Harold P. Smith

GOSHEN — Harold P. Smith, 90, passed away on April 11, 2019, at Pomperaug Woods Health Center in Southbury, Conn. 

He was predeceased by his parents Mabel (Quinn) and Philip Smith; his wife, Marcy (Frey) Smith; his son, Kevin Smith; his brother, Edward Smith; his son-in-law, Michael Savan; and his sister-in-law, Cheryl Smith.

He was born in New Haven, Conn., on March 14, 1929, and attended Spring Glen Grammar School and Hamden High School. 

Grace (Nutt) Smith

SHARON — Grace (Nutt) Smith passed away unexpectedly on March 4, 2019, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, surrounded by family and friends. 

She was born on May 27, 1942, to the late Jean (Taylor) and Vincent A. Nutt in Burlington, Vt. It was in the halls of Housatonic Valley Regional High School in Falls Village that she met Ray Smith in 1958, whom she would marry after graduating from Albertus Magnus College in 1964. Grace and Ray would have celebrated 55 wonderful years of marriage this September. 

Patrick Hobart Hare

CORNWALL — Patrick Hobart Hare died peacefully April 11, 2019, after a long series of illnesses. He was surrounded by family at the time of his passing.

Pat was born on Long Island, N.Y., on Nov 22, 1941. His parents, Montgomery Hare and Mary Sturgess Hare, moved the family to Cornwall when Pat was an infant.

He attended Cornwall Consolidated School, Rumsey Hall School, Groton, Dartmouth,the Southern Illinois University (SIU), where he received a degree in design, and the University of Edinburgh, where he earned his Master’s Degree in Urban Planning.
