Richard H. Mallory

NORTH CANAAN —  Richard H. “Dick” Mallory, 79, of South Canaan Road, died Jan. 6, 2018, at the Geer Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.  

He was born July 5, 1938, in Sheffield, Mass., son of the late Marie (Vicini) and George Mallory.

Dick was an equipment operator and worked for several contractors throughout the Northwest Corner of the state.  

He served his country as a soldier in the U.S. Army.  

Roswell Hopkins Rudd Jr.

SHARON — Roswell Rudd died Dec 22, 2017, at his home in Kerhonkson, N.Y., after a long battle with cancer. He was lovingly cared for by his long-time partner, Verna Gillis, and surrounded by his extended family and devoted friends who brought him so much joy over the course of his life. 

Robert Shyer

LAKEVILLE — Robert “Bob” Shyer died peacefully on Dec. 19, 2017, aged 86, surrounded by his family. 

Bob was loved by his family and friends for his kindness and wonderful sense of humor. He was born in Queens, N.Y., on Oct. 15, 1931, to Rose (Schwartz) and Joseph Shyer. 

Bob graduated from Long Island University in 1954 with a B.A. in economics and then joined Zyloware Corporation, founded by his father in 1923; his brother Henry joined two years later, marking the beginning of a 60-plus year partnership. 

Elizabeth Louise ‘Betty Lou’ Keegan

STAATSBURG — Elizabeth Louise “Betty Lou” Keegan, 72, a 15-year resident of Staatsburg, N.Y., and formerly of Poughkeepsie, N.Y., died peacefully on Jan. 5, 2018, at Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie with her loving family at her side. 

Betty Lou worked as an assembler at Mid-Hudson Workshop in Poughkeepsie for many years and had worked for Nestle USA in New Milford, Conn., in the production facility. 

When her daughters were young she was a stay-at-home mom and homemaker.

Walter C. Burcroff

GOSHEN — Walter C. Burcroff, 85, died Dec. 18, 2017, at his home. 

He was the beloved husband of Rebecca “Becky” (Breakell) Burcroff.

Mr. Burcroff was born in Sodus, N.Y., on March 18, 1932, son of the late Dora (Streeter) and Carl Burcroff, and had been a Goshen resident for the past 39 years. 

He was a retired teacher in the agricultural education department at Housatonic Valley Regional High School, retiring in 1987 with 32 years of service. 

Wayne G. Brandt Sr.

SALISBURY — Wayne G. Brandt Sr., aged 72 years young, passed away Jan. 4, 2018. His beloved family was by his side. 

Born in North Canaan on Oct. 13, 1945, he was a son of the late Isabell (Ostrander) and Roy Brandt. 

Forrest ‘Woody’ J. Woodman

WEST CORNWALL — Forrest “Woody” J. Woodman, 89, died peacefully at home on Dec. 20, 2017. 

He was the loving husband of Mary (Sebben) Woodman.

Woody was born March 16, 1928, in Cornwall, the son of the late Violet (Brown) and Forrest E. Woodman. 

Woody attended Housatonic Valley Regional High School. He enlisted in the U. S. Navy in March 1945. 

Upon returning home, he married Mary Sebben of East Canaan on June 4, 1949. 

Erik Roy Rydingsword

LAKEVILLE — Erik Roy Rydingsword, 48, passed away suddenly on Dec. 18, 2017. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Rydingsword, and their five children,Orrin, Cora, Ella, Fisher and Calder. He is also survived by his parents, Laura Lee (Hiltz) and Roy Andrew Rydingsword of Cornwall Bridge; his brother, Andrew, and sister-in-law, Cassandra Rydingsword; a nephew, Evan, and niece, Leah, of Roxbury, Conn., and his father and mother-in-law, Kevin and Roberta Fay of Copake Falls, N.Y., and his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Kevin Close, of Stuyvesant, N.Y.

Barbara (Barry) Pogue

SALISBURY — Barbara (Barry) Pogue, 85, died on Dec. 28, 2017.

Born on May 16, 1932, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Mullins) and Walter Barry

Salisbury has lost a dedicated Christian, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She excelled as an activist, feminist, town stalwart, humorist and irrepressible joker. 

Edna Mae Miller

WASSAIC — Edna Mae Miller, 87, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Wassaic died Dec.16, 2017.  

She was born on Aug. 4, 1930, in Wellsville, N.Y. ,to  Laura Susan (Cramer) and Herman Kruger. She came to Sarasota nearly 30 years ago. 

She attended Scio Central School and Fredonia State University in New York.  She retired as a music teacher from Webutuck Central School and the Wassaic Developmental Center in Amenia after 30 years in education.
