Polly Gaylord

COLEBROOK — Pauline “Polly” Elizabeth Moore Gaylord, 94, died peacefully on June 18, 2018, at Givens Estates in Asheville, N.C., her home for almost 15 years after moving from Biltmore Forest.

The widow of Robinson Gaylord, they had been married for 66 years at the time of his death in 2014.

Duncan Denny

NORFOLK — Duncan Denny, passed away at his home on June 19, 2018. 

He was born June 20, 1927, in New Rochelle, N.Y., to Dorothy and Cary Freeman Denny. 

 Duncan grew up in Pelham Manor, N.Y., and Norfolk. 

He graduated from South Kent School in 1945 and served in the Army Air Corps as a radar technician, stationed in the Azores. He is a graduate of Rhodes College in Memphis, Tenn., and Clark University in Worcester, Mass. 

Ann (Robinson) Noble

SALISBURY — Ann (Robinson) Noble, known to all as Debbie, died on April 27, 2018, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. She was 95 years old. 

Debbie was born on Jan. 8, 1923, in Plainfield, N.J., to Gladys (Carter) and Howard Copland Robinson. She graduated from St. Anne’s School in Charlottesville, Va., and then from Edgewood Park Junior College in Briarcliff Manor, N.Y. 

She married Peter Dunne Garvan in St. Mary’s Church in  Lakeville on May 9, 1942.

NORTH CANAAN — Dawn (Weaver) Spadaccini passed on March 2, 2018.

Memorial service: Mildred K. Rick

SHARON — Mildred K. Rick, a former resident of Upper Main Street, died on May 14, 2018, at Noble Horizons. She was 98 years old and the widow of Walter H. “Ricky” Rick of Sharon. 

A summer celebration of Millie’s life will be held at the Sharon Historical Society on Saturday, July 7, at 3 p.m. 

The Kenny Funeral Home has charge of arrangements.

James G. Law

NORTH CANAAN — James G. Law, 90, of North Canaan and formerly of Sheffield died on June 10, 2018.

He was born in Lindenhurst, Long Island, N.Y., on June 30, 1927, the son of Ann (Gilligan) and William C. Law.

James grew up in Lindenhurst and graduated from Lindenhurst High School in 1945. He enlisted in the Navy in January 1945 at the age of 17. Just before graduation from high school, he left for basic training in Sampson, N.Y. 

Helen O. McGhee

MILLERTON — Helen O. McGhee, 98, a lifelong Millerton resident died peacefully on June 16, 2018. at Noble Horizons. 

She previously resided with her loving daughter, Patricia Boice, in Millerton for many years. 

Mrs. McGhee worked as an assembler for General Electric in Connecticut for 25 years retiring in 1975; she then provided private residential care for 15 years at her home in Millerton.

Born Feb. 21, 1920, in Salisbury, she was the daughter of the late Anna (Marchoki) and Peter Malarchuk. 

Eleanor J. Goldsmith

PINE PLAINS — Eleanor J. Goldsmith, 88, passed away at home on June, 17, 2018.

She was born on June 21, 1929, in Albany, N.Y., the daughter of the late Irene (Webb) and Michael Stehr.

Mrs. Goldsmith attended East Greenbush High School. 

She was a longtime member of the First United Presbyterian Church in Pine Plains. Eleanor enjoyed playing cards, ceramics, traveling and knitting. Her greatest enjoyment of all was her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  

Ida Jane Hanaburgh

POUGHKEEPSIE — Ida Jane Hanaburgh, 79, passed peacefully on June 7, 2018.

Ida, affectionately known as Peachy, will be greatly missed by those who knew her as a neighbor and friend. For many years during her own illness she remained instrumental in her role as caregiver to our mother, Ida Hanaburgh (age 97). 

Peachy was a peaceful soul, positive and courageous; I never heard her complain! 

William Paul Dooley

KENT — William Paul Dooley, an active land preservationist, public servant and successful businessman, died May 26, 2018, after a long struggle with GIST cancer. 

Paul was born in New York City on Sept. 15, 1937, the son of Raymond Nelson Dooley from Bloomington, Ill., and Lovilla (Frederick) Dooley from Walnut, Ill. Paul’s mother passed away in 1946, and then his father (a former president of Lincoln College) married Florence (Adams) Dooley.
