Patricia Barker Coon

AMENIA — Patricia Barker Coon, age 92, a resident of Brookdale at Fillmore Pond in Bennington, Vt., and a former resident of Amenia and Stephentown, N.Y., died on Nov. 10, 2019, following a brief illness.

She was born in Burlington, Vt., on April 3, 1927, and was the daughter of the late Grace (Rumball) and Clifford Barker. 

She received her education in local schools and is a graduate of the State University of New York, New Paltz. 

Phyllis H. Wojan

LITCHFIELD — This corrected obituary supersedes the previously printed obituary submitted by Dolores Schiesel of Cramer & Anderson and Laurie Doss of Marvelwood School.

Phyllis H. Wojan passed away on the afternoon of Oct. 29, 2019, from metastatic breast cancer at the Brandywine Living at Litchfield.

John Alexander ‘Jack’ Downey

SHARON — John Alexander “Jack” Downey, MD, BSc (Med), DPhil (Oxon), FRCP(C), born Sept. 16, 1930, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, to J. Stuart and Victoria Downey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019. 

Howard Grauel Jr.

NORTH CANAAN — Howard Grauel Jr. was down to earth, but he was also out of this world, and Monday, Nov. 4, 2019, he left it for the heavens he helped photograph and map.

His spirit flew out a cracked window of Sharon Hospital after a hard-fought case of flu and pneumonia. At 92, he wasn’t quite ready to leave, and had been doing the laundry, eating chocolate ice cream and enjoying the company of his family and friends from Geer Village just a week prior. 

Sally Ann (Consolini) Foley

 NORTH CANAAN — Sally Ann (Consolini) Foley passed away on Nov. 6, 2019, surrounded by her family. 

Sally was born in North Canaan on Jan. 23, 1947, the daughter of the late Marion (Bianchi) and Victor Consolini. 

In 1968, she married John Foley Sr., the love of her life. They had 48 wonderful years together raising their six children. They enjoyed spending their last 17 winters in Holiday, Fla.

Sally enjoyed her career at The Interlaken Inn for the past 20 years and working with the customers and her co-workers. 

Richard Thomas Flood Jr.

SALISBURY — Richard Thomas Flood Jr., 84, son of Ellen (Holdrege) and Richard T. Flood, and the husband and best friend of the late Sally (Elliot) Flood, died on Oct. 30, 2019.

Born in Boston, Mass., on Aug. 10, 1935, he was a graduate of Noble and Greenough School in the Class of 1953 and Williams College in the Class of 1957.

He was a grateful Jamestown, R.I., resident for more than 50 years.

John Alexander ‘Jack’ Downey

SHARON — John Alexander “Jack” Downey, MD, BSc (Med), DPhil (Oxon), FRCP(C), born Sept. 16, 1930, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada, to J. Stuart and Victoria Downey, passed away peacefully on Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019. 

Arnaldo Traverso

NORTH CANAAN —  Arnaldo Traverso passed away quietly in his home Oct. 28, 2019, two days after his 89th birthday.

Arnaldo worked for more than 30 years at Becton-Dickinson in North Canaan, and also was a landscaper and handyman for many in the area. A hardworking, loyal and dedicated man, he immigrated from the Piedmont region of Italy, devoting his life to his family. A true American success story.

Phyllis Hoecker Wojan

CORNWALL BRIDGE — Phyllis Hoecker Wojan, 95, writer, teacher, researcher and conservationist, passed away peacefully on Oct. 29, 2019.  

Phyllis was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 4, 1924, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Richmond Bernard Hoecker.

Phyllis earned a degree in Library Science from Barnard College and went on to become a writer and the first female executive with Columbia Broadcasting System (CBS).  

She also was a model for Bergdorf Goodman and on the Editorial Board for the Barnard Alumnae Magazine. 

Phyllis (Pulver) Ronner

PINE PLAINS — Phyllis (Pulver) Ronner passed away on Nov. 1, 2019, at Geer Village. 

Mrs. Ronner was born in Pine Plains on Aug. 29, 1923, the daughter of May Miller and Ralph Pulver. She graduated from Pine Plains High School in 1941 and Russell Sage College, with a degree in Home Economics, in 1945.
