Alma ‘Tootie’ Conklin

NORTH CANAAN — Alma “Tootie” Conklin, 90, of Green Acres in North Canaan, passed away on Jan. 29, 2013. She was born on Sept. 26, 1922, in Keene Valley, N.Y.

Alma was preceded in death by Russell, her husband of 58 years.

She is survived by her children, Russell, Jo-Ann and Jesse and Renee Wylie; her sister, Betty Bruni-Daggett and nephew, Larry; her brother-in-law, Harley; her daughters-in-law, Lyn and Ellie and son-in-law, Darryl; and her grandchildren, Courtney Kresel and her husband, Jonathan, and Ashley, Brett, Skylar, Gage, Mariah, Wyatt and Marshall.

George Michael Tully

SALISBURY — George M. Tully died on Jan. 24, 2013, with his family surrounding him. He was 85 years old and passed away after an extended illness.

He was born May 17, 1927.

George and his wife, Patricia, were Lakeville and Salisbury residents for more than 40 years. George retired from the family textile company — Tultex Corporation — in New York City and moved with his family to Lakeville in 1973.

Francis J. ‘Frank’ Winters

SALISBURY — Francis J. “Frank” Winters, 95, of 17 Cobble Road, formerly of Wells Hill Road, died Jan. 21, 2013, with his family at his side at Noble Horizons. Frank was the husband of the late Mary K. (O’Donnell) Winters, who passed away on Oct. 11, 2006.

Frank was born Oct. 27, 1917, in New York City, son of the late Agnes (Nugent) and James J. Winters.

Adeline M. (Strattman) Gasperini Linkovich

EAST CANAAN — Adeline M. (Strattman) Gasperini Linkovich, 88, of East Canaan Road, died at her home after an illness, surrounded by her family.

She was the widow of John E. Gasperini and Joseph J. Linkovich.

Adeline was born May 16, 1924, in North Canaan, the daughter of the late Carrie (Bouteiller) and LeRoy Strattman.

Adeline graduated from North Canaan Elementary School and Housatonic Valley Regional High School.

Margaret A. ‘Peggy’ Coon

AMENIA — Margaret A. “Peggy” Coon, 78, passed away Jan. 27, 2013, at Sharon Health Care Center.

She was born on Oct. 23, 1934, in Sharon, the daughter of the late Agnes (Mulligan) and John Thomas.

Early on, Peggy worked on her family’s farm in Sharon.

On July 31, 1965, she married Garrison Van Vliet Coon and raised two daughters in Amenia. Peggy then worked in food service at the Webutuck Central School District. Most recently she was a faithful presence at The Bargain Barn in Sharon.

Joseph T. Fitzpatrick

NORTH CANAAN — Joseph T. Fitzpatrick, 77, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, Jan. 27, 2013, at Sharon Hospital after a brief illness.
Joe was born April 21, 1935, in Philadelphia, Pa., where he was known on the streets as “The K.O. Kid.” He was the son of the late Barbara (Eslinger)and Joseph George Fitzpatrick.
He served in the United States Navy from 1955 to 1959. His early visits to the Far East during his naval deployment spurred his interest in and fascination with the Asian culture.

Frank Anstett Jr.

Frank Anstett Jr., of Colebrook, died Jan. 15, 2013. Calling hours followed by a service were held Jan. 19. Burial will be held in the spring with full Military Honors at Eno Hill Cemetery, Colebrook. Montano-Shea Funeral Home has care of arrangements.

Lindsley M. Carlson

Lindsley “Lenny” M. Carlson, of New Hartford, died Jan. 14, 2013. Calling hours followed by a service with full Military Honors were held Jan. 17 at Montano-Shea Funeral Home, New Hartford.

John N. Morrissey

PINE PLAINS — John N. Morrissey, 69, a longtime resident of Pine Plains, passed away Jan. 16, 2013, at Albany Medical Center in Albany, N.Y.

He was born Aug. 1, 1943, in Bronx, N.Y., the son of Gertrude (Lynch) and John N. Morrissey Sr.

Mr. Morrissey honorably served his country in the United States Navy from 1962 until 1966.

On Aug. 13, 1966, in Pelham, N.Y., he married Kathleen O’Gorman. She survives him at home.

John was the owner and operator of Morrissey Trucking based out of Pine Plains. He was formerly a member of the New Rochelle Knights of Columbus.

Christopher Hoffman

NORTH CANAAN — Christopher Hoffman, 64, a former resident of Pine Plains, passed away Jan. 15, 2013, at Sharon Hospital.

He was born July 16, 1948, in Utica, N.Y.

A graduate of Stissing Mountain High School, Christopher went on to graduate from Cornell University with a bachelor’s degree in business.

He honorably served his country in the United States Army.

Christopher was formerly a manager for Agway in Millerton, Torrington and Pine Plains, and went on to co-own the Dam View Farm in Pine Plains.

Ruth Estella Gordon

AMENIA — Ruth Estella Gordon, 90, a 50-year resident of Amenia, died Jan. 18, 2013, at Noble Horizons.

Mrs. Gordon was a housekeeping supervisor at the Wassaic Developmental Center for 14 years and a bus monitor for Webutuck Central Schools (where she was affectionately known as “Grandma”) for 15 years.

Born Oct. 31, 1922, in Portsmouth, Va., she was the daughter of the late James and Hattie (Speller) Moore. Mrs. Gordon was a graduate of W. S. Etheridge High School in Windsor, N.C., class of 1940.
