Erik Roy Rydingsword

LAKEVILLE — Erik Roy Rydingsword, 48, passed away suddenly on Dec. 18, 2017. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Sarah Rydingsword, and their five children,Orrin, Cora, Ella, Fisher and Calder. He is also survived by his parents, Laura Lee (Hiltz) and Roy Andrew Rydingsword of Cornwall Bridge; his brother, Andrew, and sister-in-law, Cassandra Rydingsword; a nephew, Evan, and niece, Leah, of Roxbury, Conn., and his father and mother-in-law, Kevin and Roberta Fay of Copake Falls, N.Y., and his sister and brother-in-law, Laura and Kevin Close, of Stuyvesant, N.Y.

Barbara (Barry) Pogue

SALISBURY — Barbara (Barry) Pogue, 85, died on Dec. 28, 2017.

Born on May 16, 1932, in Boston, Mass., she was the daughter of the late Margaret (Mullins) and Walter Barry

Salisbury has lost a dedicated Christian, loving wife, mother and grandmother. She excelled as an activist, feminist, town stalwart, humorist and irrepressible joker. 

Edna Mae Miller

WASSAIC — Edna Mae Miller, 87, of Sarasota, Fla., and formerly of Wassaic died Dec.16, 2017.  

She was born on Aug. 4, 1930, in Wellsville, N.Y. ,to  Laura Susan (Cramer) and Herman Kruger. She came to Sarasota nearly 30 years ago. 

She attended Scio Central School and Fredonia State University in New York.  She retired as a music teacher from Webutuck Central School and the Wassaic Developmental Center in Amenia after 30 years in education. 

Priscilla (Hart) Mauro

CORNWALL — Priscilla (Hart) Mauro, 90, died peacefully of natural causes on Dec.19, 2017, with family at her side. 

Born to Doris (Shurtleff) and Charles Whittlesey Hart, she was the eldest of nine children. She grew up on Cherry Hill Farm in West Cornwall.

During World War II, Cilla was a plane spotter. After the war she enrolled in Danbury State Teacher’s College.  There she met and married Joseph Mauro. They went on to earn master’s degrees in teaching from Columbia, and together they had three children, David, Betsey and Cindy.

Darren Phillip MacIsaac

PINE PLAINS — Darren Phillip MacIsaac, 50, died  Dec. 22, 2017, at home. 

He was born on March 6, 1967, in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., the son of Barbara (Draney) MacIsaac and the late Fred MacIsaac.

Darren was a heavy machine operator.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by his companion, Tina Delisle-Conn; his brothers and sisters, Billy, Charlene, Jimmy, Fred, Barbie, Christian, Lisa; and several nieces, nephews and great-nieces and -nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Mark Steven MacIsaac, on Dec. 23, 2012.

Barbara W. Johnson

SHARON — Barbara W. Johnson, 85, of Sharon died peacefully on Dec. 27, 2017, at Sharon Hospital surrounded by her loving family, after a short illness. Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 64 years, Norman Johnson.

Barbara and Norman were dairy farmers in Sharon from 1961 to 1981; they then owned and operated the Sharon Laundromat. 

Barbara was also predeceased by one sister and several brothers. 

Donna Marie Hoyt

SHARON — Donna Marie Hoyt  died Dec. 1, 2017, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital. She was 65 years old and had lived in Sharon with her husband, Richard Manyak, for the last 28 years. 

Donna had a career as a court stenographer before becoming a gardener. She was the gardener at the Torrington Country Club for 15 years. 

Donna is survived by her husband of 40 years; her sisters, Ella and Charlene; her brothers, Gary, Brian, Robert, Wayne and Jerry; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Marc Hirschel

SHARON — Marc Hirschel of Sharon died Dec. 29, 2017, at the  age of 67.  

He is survived by his wife, Paula; his daughter, Danielle Serino; and his son and daughter-in-law, Seth and Molly Hirschel.  He also leaves behind his  dearest cousin, Mindy Weiner; and his siblings, grandchildren, friends and colleagues.  

Marjorie (Walberg) Chase

PINE PLAINS — Marjorie (Walberg) Chase, 88, died peacefully at home on Dec. 31, 2017.  

She was born in Rhinebeck on Jan. 7, 1929, the daughter of Martha (Warren) and John E. Walberg.  

She graduated from Rhinebeck High School and from Grasslands Hospital Nursing Program in Westchester County.  

She married Clyde Ralston Chase in 1948.   They made their home in Pine Plains, where they raised their three sons and served the community.  

John F. Campbell

MILLERTON — John F. Campbell, 89, a lifelong resident of Millerton, died peacefully on Dec. 21, 2017, at Sharon Health Care Center from complications of a stroke. 

He was a passionate outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening. He was proud of his family’s history on Rudd Pond in Millerton.
