They paddled across the Saranac Lakes, through bogs and woods, past rocky shores, high cliffs and sandy beaches, learning how to navigate and to negotiate an overland portage and the hand-operated lock between Middle and Lower Saranac...

NCAA women battle it out courtside: Champions indeed

If you missed the NCAA Women’s Championship game pitting Baylor University against Notre Dame, you really missed something special. It was a game of ebbs and flows, elation and heartbreak, courage and luck — pretty much everything you could ask for in a basketball game.
Just as is always the case, though, the game was really about people, and I would like to highlight two special players.

Community invited in to enjoy Lime Rock Park

LIME ROCK — Lime Rock Park is making a special effort this year to invite the community in, and perhaps change some minds about car and motorcycle racing on the track.
The track owners have been in litigation with the town of Salisbury for a couple years now over owner Skip Barber’s request to state regulators that there be some Sunday racing allowed. WEBUTUCK — The Webutuck varsity baseball team faced a tough competitor in its season opener against Spackenkill High School on Thursday, March 28.
The game was played at Beekman Park in Amenia. In spite of the stiff breeze later in the afternoon, the stands were full of fans supporting both teams.
From the start, there were the sounds of the spring — bat hitting the ball, ball hitting glove and cheers from the stands.
