Lady Bombers softball wins big: Pine Plains defeats Dover, 15-5

PINE PLAINS — The Stissing Mountain High School varsity softball team began the month of May with a fierce home game against Dover on Wednesday, May 1.
The game was held on the ball field behind the high school. As a special treat, children who registered for this year’s youth baseball and softball teams in Pine Plains were invited to stand with the varsity players on the field during the National Anthem.

PINE PLAINS — Both the Pine Plains girls and boys varsity spring track teams  had outstanding performances against Webutuck during a home dual meet on Tuesday, April 30.
Starting at 4:15 p.m., the meet was held on the track behind Stissing Mountain Junior/Senior High School.

Bombers track team: April ends on a high note at invitational

PINE PLAINS — The Stissing Mountain High School varsity spring track team finished the month of April on a high note as it competed at the Gander Invitational meet held at Rondout Valley High School on Saturday, April 27.
In addition to Pine Plains and Rondout Valley, the Gander Invitational welcomed the varsity spring track teams from Ellenville, Millbrook, Wallkill, Hudson, Rhinebeck, Dover, New Paltz and Spackenkill, starting at 9 a.m.

Millbrook girls still winning at lacrosse

MILLBROOK — The Millbrook Blazers girls lacrosse team hosted the two-time defending champions, Warwick, on Saturday, May 4. Scoreless through much of the first half, it was a defensive battle all the way. Millbrook scored first and kept the momentum going until halftime, with a score of 1-0.

AMENIA — The softly falling rain that blanketed the ball fields on Saturday, May 4, couldn’t deter dozens upon dozens of young ball players from picking up both mitts and bats for Amenia’s opening day. The players all converged at Beekman Park, which welcomed the young athletes, their families and their friends.
“I love it,” said mom Jessica Deister, whose 4 year old, Cody, played with the Tiny Tots. “It’s really cute, and he makes new friends.”

Millerton’s Kiersten Duncan sets college record

TROY — Taconic Hills graduate and softball infielder Kiersten Duncan set a record for her school, Sage College, on Wednesday, April 3.
Duncan, who is a senior and the softball team’s co-captain, collected three doubles in a game against Union College at Robison Field in a non-conference double header.
