NEW YORK STATE — Saturday, Nov. 19, was an important day for local residents who want to enjoy fresh game meat or gift wild furs during the holidays — it was the start of hunting season.
The regular deer and black bear hunting seasons in this region run through Sunday, Dec. 11. The muzzle-loading deer and black bear seasons follow, from Monday, Dec. 12, to Tuesday, Dec. 20.
For bobcats, weasels, opossums, raccoons, skunks and foxes, the seasons run until Wednesday, Feb. 15.

Fall sports end with impressive records

HARLEM VALLEY — The fall sports season may have just ended, but the students at Webutuck and Stissing Mountain high schools are already practicing for the winter season. Both school districts played an impressive fall season, with several teams making it to sectionals or state finals.
Webutuck
Varsity Cross Country: Jesse Capellaro and Kayla Kohl made it to the state finals.
Capellaro placed 51st out of 120 runners; Kohl placed 59th out of 120 runners.

Webutuck wins field hockey sectionals

MILTON — The Webutuck girls varsity field hockey team won the sectional finals 3-2 in a game against Onteora at the Milton Sports Dome on Thursday, Nov. 3.
Hannah Kitchen scored the first goal within the first three minutes. The second and third goals were scored by Sam Murphy.
The girls won the first round semifinals game against Pine Plains the day before with a final score of 2-1. The goals were scored by KT Thompson and Claire Markonic, with one assist by Jane Markonic.

Boys varsity soccer dominates quarter-final

POUGHKEEPSIE — During the sectional quarterfinal game against Chester on Wednesday, Nov. 2, the Webutuck High School boys varsity soccer team secured a shutout with the impressive final score of 8-0.
Goalie Austin Brown kept Chester scoreless.
Matt Matteo scored three goals and Shayne Robért scored two goals. Nick Barnes, Andrew Giordano and Christian Agustin each scored one goal.
Assists were made by Shayne, Matt, Tommy Nethercott and Chris McCoy.

Webutuck girls varsity soccer team earns two more wins

On Friday, Oct. 21, the Webutuck girls varsity soccer team secured its ninth win of the season for an overall record of 9-3-2.
“That’s probably one of the best records we’ve had in a while,” coach Mark Moren said.
The girls faced the Stissing Mountain team during a night game. The final score was 3-1.
Pine Plains was in the lead at halftime with 1-0, but Webutuck came back strong in the second half.
