Winchester schools have emerged from state control

WINSTED — The Winchester Board of Education held its first official meeting in two years on Thursday, Aug. 24, at Town Hall.
The board last held an official meeting in July 2015.
The schools managed by the Winchester board are Batcheller Early Education Center  (grades pre-kindergarten to two) and Pearson Middle School (grades three to six).
Back in July 2015, the state took receivership over the Winchester School District, which included heavy state oversight of its budget, staffing and programming.
